From the Beatles to Coldplay, many of the world’s biggest names have played at Maida Vale Studios.
Now Ifield Community College Choir and Chagossian Drummers have played there too,
The recording with the BBC Singers for a Radio3 Show was just one of a string of accomplishments over the last 12 months.
There were performances at the new BBC Media Centre at Salford Quays in Manchester and in the gardens of Kensington place in London for the Human Planet Prom, which was part of the BBC Proms.
The 40 singers and 9 drummers joined four other acts for the concerts to showcase music from around the world.
The choir and drummers were the only musicians invited to perform at an international conference on the Chagos islands at the Royal Geographical Society in May.
The events in London welcomed politicians, scientists and environmentalists from all over the world.
Since 2001 the choir has benefited from the addition of singers and drummers from Crawley’s growing Chagossian community.
The college’s Chagossian drummers were also celebrated at this year’s Crawley Youth Awards, winning the music award on the night.
